THROGGS NECK, NY – After scoring twice in the Maritime College men's soccer team's season-opening win over Brooklyn on Friday, Carson Sadler (Gilford, NH) has been chosen as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week.  He also had an assist in the 4-1 victory.

Sadler scored the game's first goal just 10:07 into the contest, when he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper down the left side and put it away into the empty net.  In the 28^th minute, Sadler was credited with an assist on a tally by Georgios Tsatalios (Athens, Greece).  He then added his second goal of the first half on a rocket from 30 yards out in the 39^th minute.

Three of Maritime's four goals in the contest were scored by freshmen , with Finn Richmond (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) also contributing a tally.  Sadler, who finished with five points in the game, becomes the first Privateer to earn Skyline Rookie of the Week honors since Jonathan Toma (Massapequa, NY) was recognized last season on Oct. 22.

Maritime (1-0-0), which opened the season with a win for the first time since 2021, returns to action on Tuesday night, when Five Towns (1-0-0) visits Reinhart Field for a 7 p.m. matchup.
