Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Carson Sadler Scores Another Pair In Victory

THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College men's soccer team has scored six goals thru two games this season.  Carson Sadler (Gilford, NH) has been involved in five of them.  He recorded his second brace in as many collegiate contests on Tuesday night, accounting for both tallies in a 2-1 victory for the Privateers (2-0-0) over Five Towns (1-1-0) at Reinhart Field.

In the 28th minute, Maritime was called for a foul in the box.  The Sound's Andre Hickling converted the penalty kick, giving Five Towns a 1-0 lead.  It would remain that way until the 55th minute, when Justin Song (Syosset, NY) took a free kick and sent it in Sadler's direction.  He headed it in to level the score at 1-1.  Sadler then put the Privateers in front with a 66th-minute tally.  Chris Vazquez (Woodhaven, NY) connected with Sadler on a low cross, and he found the touch from the left post for the go-ahead tally.

Augusto Lebron (Valley Stream, NY) preserved the advantage with three saves in the final 20 minutes, including a full-extension stop on a shot that looked like it would be a sure goal.  He finished with four saves on the night.  The Maritime defense held off the Sound's late push and secured the 2-1 triumph.

Sadler now has four goals on the season, while Vazquez's assist was his second.  Song picked up his first assist of the year.  Lebron (2-0-0), meanwhile, earned the win after turning away four of Five Towns' 15 shots.  Sound goalkeeper Jose Garcia (1-1-0) was credited with four saves.

Maritime now has more than a week off before its next outing.  The Privateers visit York (0-0-0) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
