Gambling
Sports wagering is a very serious issue and can lead to the permanent loss of intercollegiate eligibility. A student-athlete will become ineligible if he/she:
- Provides information to individuals involved in organized gambling activities concerning intercollegiate athletics competition;
- Solicits a bet on any intercollegiate team;
- Accepts a bet on any team representing the institution;
- Solicits or accepts a bet on any intercollegiate competition for any item (e.g., cash, shirt, dinner) that has tangible value;
- Participates in any gambling activity that involves intercollegiate or professional athletics, through a bookmaker, parlay card, or any other method employed by organized gambling.

Primary Functions of the Compliance Coordinator:
Institutional control of athletics is a fundamental requirement of NCAA legislation. The NCAA Constitution mandates that each institution shall be responsible for ensuring that members of the institution's staff, student-athletes and other individuals or groups representing the institution's athletics interest comply with applicable Association rules.
This website is intended to provide you with a general understanding of NCAA regulatory guidelines. Maritime Athletics needs your help in complying with these rules and regulations in order to maintain the welfare of the College, the athletics program and most importantly, Maritime Privateer student-athletes. This site does not encompass every rules scenario; therefore, the compliance staff invites and encourages anyone with a compliance-related question or concern to contact the compliance coordinator. The compliance office is located in Riesenberg Hall in the first floor lobby.
