THROGGS NECK, NY – Sophomore forward Eva Garcia (Rockville Centre, NY) of the Maritime College women's soccer team has been selected as the Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week.  She had a hat trick in the Privateers' season-opening win over Brooklyn on Friday.

After the Bulldogs scored the first goal of the game in the 16^th minute, Garcia tied it 13 seconds later.  She leveled the score again at 2-2 on a run down the left side in the 60^th minute.  In the 73^rd minute, Garcia completed her hat trick by netting the game-winner.  Her attempt hit off the post and went in, giving Maritime a 3-2 lead in the eventual 4-2 victory.

It was the third hat trick of Garcia's career and her third career Skyline weekly award.  She was named Rookie of the Week twice last season.

The Privateers (1-0-0) return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Centenary (0-1-0) at 12 p.m. for their first road match of the season.
