HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – After having more than a week off following its season-opening victory, the Maritime College women's soccer team hit the road for the first time in 2025 on Saturday. The Privateers (1-1-0) trailed 1-0 at halftime before tying the score on
Daniella Jimenez's (Copiague, NY) goal early in the second half. Centenary (1-1-1) responded with seven unanswered tallies, however, to notch an 8-1 victory at J.E. Reeves Jr. Field.
The Cyclones outshot Maritime 6-0 in the first half, but were only able to sneak one by
Estela Quintero (Oceanside, NY). Jimenez then leveled it at 1-1 when she put home a feed from
Madeline Powers (Atlantic Beach, NY) in the 51
st minute. Centenary went back in front on Lesly Carillo-Garcia's goal in the 58
th minute, and Ashley Fogarty added another two minutes later. The Cyclones scored four more times in the final 15 minutes to make the final 8-1.
Jimenez's tally was the first of her collegiate career. Powers, meanwhile, was credited with her first career assist. Quintero (1-1-0) made three saves, and the Privateers' defense also stopped two shots along the goal line.
Liliana Flores recorded four goals for Centenary, while Elizabeth Fogarty contributed two goals and an assist. Kelby Kaiser (1-0-1) earned the win after notching four saves.
Maritime now has another week-long break before returning to action. The Privateers will host Medgar Evers (0-0-0) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15.
