2025 Fall Schedule
THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College sailing team has announced its 2025 Fall schedule. The Privateers will be in action every weekend in September and October, with two of those regattas taking place at home. Most competitions will feature the open dinghy squad. Maritime also has four women's events, while the offshore squad will compete four times.
Both the open and women's dinghy teams begin the season at Merchant Marine on Sept. 6-7. The Privateers will send a group to Stony Brook University for Northeast Series 1 that weekend, as well. The following weekend, all three squads (open, women's, offshore) will hit the water. The open and women's dinghy teams head to Cornell, while the offshore sailors will travel to the U.S. Naval Academy for the Shields Trophy. Maritime also has a contingent entered in the Coho Memorial, hosted by the Webb Institute on Sept. 13-14.
On Sept. 20-21, the open dinghy team will participate in Fordham's Jesuit Invitational and the Privateer women are entered in the Tiger Women's Open at Princeton. Maritime's annual Fall Open is then scheduled for Sept. 27-28. Last season, the Privateers finished fifth in their home regatta.
Maritime begins October with a pair of open dinghy events at Stony Brook at Bowdoin on Oct. 4-5. The offshore squad, meanwhile, returns to action with the annual regatta in Larchmont, NY, on Oct. 11-12. That will be the first of two straight competition weeks for the offshore team, which returns to Navy for the McMillan Cup on Oct. 18-19. The dinghy sailors will race in the Luce Regatta at Christopher Newport University that weekend.
Fall conference championships for both open and women's dinghy are set for Oct. 25-26. The War Memorial, the open dinghy championship event, will be hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The Privateers will be the home team for the MAISA Fall Women's Open, marking the first time this championship will be contested in Throggs Neck since 2017.
Pending qualification, the offshore team wraps up the fall campaign at the Kennedy Cup on Nov. 1-2. The National Championship event for offshore sailing, the Kennedy Cup in held at the U.S. Naval Academy every Fall.
