THROGGS NECK, NY – After her record-setting performance in the win at Ramapo on Saturday,
Gabrielle Nicolosi (West Islip, NY) of the Maritime College women's lacrosse team has been recognized with a pair of awards. She was named Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week while also being chosen as the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Offensive Player of the Week.
Nicolosi broke three school records and had a hand in all but three of the goals in the Privateers' 18-6 victory. She scored six times and distributed nine assists to finish with 15 points. The nine assists and 15 points were both new single-game program marks, as well as the most in a game by any Division III player this season. Nicolosi is tied for the single-game NCAA lead across all three divisions in both categories.
In addition, she became Maritime's all-time scoring leader in the contest. Nicolosi surpassed Krista Deleva with her 248
th point on a goal with 9:51 remaining in the third quarter. She currently has 252 career points.
This is Nicolosi's third Skyline Offensive Player of the Week selection, and her first since March 28, 2023. She's the first Privateer ever to earn IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week recognition.
Up next for Maritime (1-1) is a 4 p.m. matchup at Eastern Connecticut State (2-0) on Saturday. The schools have never previously met in women's lacrosse.
