THROGGS NECK, NY – Nine members of the Maritime College football team have been recognized by the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)'s eight head coaches with selections to the All-NEWMAC team.  Maritime placed four players on the All-NEWMAC First Team, while five Privateers were named Second Team All-NEWMAC.

Defensive lineman Vinny Fundaro (Levittown, NY) received his second straight First Team All-NEWMAC nod.  He was joined on the First Team by three offensive players—quarterback Will Pickett (Rockville Centre, NY), running back Joshua Rogers (Valley Stream, NY) and wide receiver Nate Casaburi (Sayville, NY).  Earning spots on the All-NEWMAC Second Team were offensive linemen Anthony Corvino (Oceanside, NY) and Matt Pompei (Manorville, NY), wide receiver Josh Limage (Valley Stream, NY), defensive lineman Gino Fundaro (Levittown, NY) and linebacker Jack Kellner (Seaford, NY).  Kellner was honored for the second consecutive year.

Vinny Fundaro leads the league with 13.5 tackles for loss, which have cost opponents 58 yards of field position.  His 6.5 sacks, meanwhile, are second-most in the NEWMAC.  He also has five quarterback hurries.  With 15 career sacks, he currently ranks third on the program's all-time list.

Pickett has accounted for 27 touchdowns this season—17 through the air and 10 on the ground.  He leads the league in completion percentage (60.1) and has thrown just six interceptions.  Pickett adds 60.8 rushing yards per game to go along with his 181.3 passing yards per outing.  He scored three rushing touchdowns and threw for another in the 48-0 win over Anderson on Sept. 13, then was honored as the NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week after recording all five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) in the victory at Merchant Marine on Oct. 11.

Rogers averages 74.5 rushing yards per game and has found the end zone six times.  He erupted for 144 yards and a touchdown at Salve Regina on Sept. 27, and had a 103-yard, two-touchdown effort in the home shutout of Norwich on Oct. 18.  Rogers also has 15 catches on the season.

Casaburi, a Second Team All-NEWMAC choice in 2023, earns First Team honors for the first time.  He's the conference leader with 66 receptions and ranks second in the league with 841 receiving yards.  Casaburi has nine touchdowns this season, including eight in a five-game stretch from Oct. 4-Nov. 8.  His 164 career catches are the most in program history, and his 20 career receiving touchdowns are one shy of matching the school record.

Kellner paces Maritime with 77 tackles to go along with two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.  He was selected as the Skyline Defensive Athlete of the Week for his performance in the shutout win over Anderson.  Gino Fundaro, meanwhile, ranks just behind his brother with 9.5 tackles for loss, and he's also recorded 4.0 sacks this season.

Limage is second on the team in receptions (41), receiving yards (394) and receiving touchdowns (5).  He also serves as the Privateers' primary kick returner, tallying 220 yards on 12 returns.  Corvino and Pompei have both started every game on the offensive line, with Corvino serving primarily as the left tackle and Pompei mainly at right guard.  That unit has helped Maritime notch 171.5 rushing yards per contest and allowed one sack or fewer in five of the Privateers' 10 games.

After going 5-5 during the regular season and 3-4 in NEWMAC play, Maritime was selected to host a bowl game for the second straight year.  The Privateers will welcome Hobart (5-5) to Reinhart Field for the ECAC James Lynah Bowl at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
