THROGGS NECK, NY – The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its Football Academic All-Conference Team for the 2025 season. Three Maritime College players were among the 176 student-athletes recognized.
Senior defensive end
Vinny Fundaro (Levittown, NY) and junior quarterback
Jaden Rotella (Mt. Sinai, NY) were both honored for the second consecutive year. They were joined on the Academic All-Conference squad by sophomore wide receiver
Kenny Jozwicki (Connetquot, NY). To be eligible, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher as of the 2025 Spring semester, as well as being in at least their second academic year at their institution. They must also spend the entire year on the varsity roster.
In addition, the NEWMAC released its 2025 Fall Sportsmanship Team, which recognizes one student-athlete from each institution who has "distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior that go beyond the sport's playing rules and etiquette." The honorees are selected by their head coaches. Representing the Privateers was one of their team captains—senior running back
Mark Russo (Sea Cliff, NY).
Maritime hosted a postseason game for the second consecutive year in 2025, welcoming Hobart to Reinhart Field for the ECAC James Lynah Bowl. It was the Privateers' first time making back-to-back postseason appearances since a four-year run from 2016-19 that culminated in an NCAA Tournament berth.
