THROGGS NECK, NY – Freshman forward Jake Devaney (Washingtonville, NY) of the Maritime College men's basketball team has been chosen as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season.  He averaged 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 51.9 percent from the field in games against Hobart and St. Joseph's LI.

Devaney recorded 17 points on 8-for-14 shooting to go along with five boards in the Privateers' non-conference finale against Hobart on Dec. 30.  He then notched a game-high 18 points on Saturday, as Maritime earned a 67-63 victory at St. Joseph's LI.  Devaney went 6-for-13 from the floor in the contest.  He also grabbed two rebounds and tallied four steals.

With an average of 17.5 points per game, Devaney is currently fifth in the league in scoring.  He ranks third in conference with a .503 field goal percentage and seventh with 6.6 rebounds per contest.  Devaney has received five of the seven Skyline Rookie of the Week awards that have been presented this season.

The Privateers (6-5, 2-0 Skyline) return to Riesenberg Gymnasium on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. matchup with Merchant Marine (5-6, 1-1 Skyline).  It will be Maritime's only home contest in a five-game stretch.
