2025-26 MBB All-Met

Devaney, Williams Earn All-Met Recognition

THROGGS NECK, NY – For the second straight season, sophomore Jake Devaney (Washingtonville, NY) of the Maritime College men's basketball team has been named Third Team All-Metropolitan by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA).  He was joined on the All-Met squad by sophomore guard Zion Williams (Indianapolis, IN), who received an honorable mention.  They're the first Privateer teammates ever to be named All-Met in the same season.

Devaney is the first Maritime player to earn back-to-back All-Met selections since Patrick MacDonald was a First Team honoree in 2016-17 & 2017-18.  They're the only multi-time All-Met selections in program history.

This is Devaney's third regional honor this season.  He was named Second Team All-Region by D3hoops.com, as well as being chosen Second Team All-ECAC (Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference).  Devaney scored 20 or more points 11 times in 2025-26 and ranked third in the Skyline Conference with an average of 18.0 points per game.  He also pulled down a team-high 7.5 rebounds per outing and finished third in the league with 40 blocks.  Devaney had four double-doubles and was a First Team All-Skyline choice after leading the Privateers to a 13-13 overall record and a 9-7 mark in conference play.

With his selection, Maritime has now landed a player on the All-Met Third Team in four consecutive seasons.  Ryan Donovan was honored in 2022-23, while Jake Murphy received a Third Team All-Met nod in 2023-24.

Williams, meanwhile, had a nine-game streak of 20-point outings from Jan. 20-Feb. 18 and finished with an average of 17.9 points per contest to rank just behind his teammate.  He also ranked fifth in the league with 4.3 assists per game and had three double-doubles.  Williams was a First Team All-Skyline selection and was recognized as the MBWA's Metropolitan Player of the Week on Feb. 10.

The oldest and longest-running media-managed college basketball awards program in the country, the All-Met Team honors men's and women's players across all three divisions from across the MBWA's coverage area.  Only 36 Division III schools are eligible for selection, with the team chosen by media members.
