Devaney/Williams All-Skyline

Maritime Places Two On All-Skyline First Team

THROGGS NECK, NY – For the first time in program history, the Maritime College men's basketball team has had multiple players selected First Team All-Skyline Conference.  Sophomore forward Jake Devaney (Washingtonville, NY), the 2024-25 Skyline Rookie of the Year, earned his second straight First Team All-Skyline nod.  He was joined on the squad by sophomore guard Zion Williams (Indianapolis, IN).

Devaney becomes the Privateers' first back-to-back First Team honoree since Patrick MacDonald was selected three years in a row from 2015-16 to 2017-18.  He ranks fourth in the league in scoring with an average of 18.1 points per game.  Devaney also pulls down a team-leading 7.6 rebounds per contest, while his 39 blocks are third-most in the conference.  He has scored 20 or more points 11 times and recorded four double-doubles.  Devaney earned Skyline Player of the Week honors on Nov. 17.

Williams had a streak of nine consecutive 20-point outings from Jan. 20-Feb. 18 and is second in the league with 18.4 points per game.  In addition, he distributes 4.3 assists per contest, fifth-most in the conference.  Williams has posted three double-doubles this season, two with points and rebounds and another with points and assists.  A two-time Skyline Player of the Week, he was the Metropolitan Player of the Week on Feb. 10.

Maritime has now had at least one player named First Team All-Skyline in each of the last four years.  Ryan Donovan was honored in 2022-23 and Jake Murphy was recognized in 2023-24.

The Privateers earned the No. 4 seed for the Skyline Tournament and will host a quarterfinal game for the fourth straight season.  Maritime (13-12, 9-7 Skyline) welcomes fifth-seeded Purchase (11-14, 9-7 Skyline) to Riesenberg Gymnasium at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
