THROGGS NECK, NY – Freshman forward Jake Devaney (Washingtonville, NY) of the Maritime College men's basketball team has once again been chosen as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week.  This is his third straight selection and seventh this season.  Devaney was honored after averaging 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in road wins over Old Westbury and Mount St. Vincent.

He had his fifth 20-point effort of the season last Wednesday at Old Westbury, finishing with 23 points.  With the game tied at 65-65 and 5.7 remaining, Devaney hit a three from in front of the Privateers' bench to give Maritime the victory.  He also secured seven boards in the win.  Devaney followed up that performance by notching 14 points and six rebounds on Saturday against Mount St. Vincent.  He added a career-high five steals, as the Privateers remained unbeaten in conference play with a 73-56 triumph.

Devaney has received seven of the nine Skyline Rookie of the Week awards that have been presented this season, and this is the second time he's been honored three weeks in a row.  He earned the first three given out this season (Nov. 13-26) and added a fourth selection on Dec. 10.

Maritime (11-5, 7-0 Skyline) is currently on a six-game winning streak after beating Mount St. Mary 74-56 on Tuesday night.  The Privateers, who are off to their best start ever in conference play, visit Manhattanville (6-10, 2-5 Skyline) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
