THROGGS NECK, NY – Sophomore goalkeeper Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) of the Maritime College women's soccer team has been honored as the first Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the 2024 season.  She tallied seven saves in a season-opening 1-0 win over Brooklyn on Friday.

Etienne made five saves in the second half, including one that preserved a scoreless tie right before the Privateers netted the only goal of the game in the 76^th minute.  She stopped another shot in the 81^st minute to maintain the lead.  Etienne was credited with her fifth career clean sheet in the victory.

Maritime (2-0-0, 1-0-0 Skyline) returns to action on Tuesday night, when Saint Elizabeth (1-0-1) visits Reinhart Field for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.  The game is the back end of a doubleheader with the Privateer men's team (0-0-1), which takes on Pratt (0-2-0) at 5 p.m.
