Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Morrill Shines In Senior Day Triumph

THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College women's soccer team honored its senior class prior to Saturday afternoon's matchup with St. Joseph's Brooklyn.  One of those seniors then proceeded to contribute to all three of the Privateers' goals in the game.  Ava Morrill (New Windsor, NY) scored twice and added an assist, as Maritime (5-8-0, 3-7-0 Skyline) earned a 3-0 victory over the Bears (1-12-0, 1-9-0 Skyline) at Reinhart Field.

Despite outshooting St. Joseph's Brooklyn 59-1 in the contest, the Privateers didn't break through until the 53rd minute.  Maritime earned a free kick just outside the box, and Morrill pounded it home for her second goal of the year.  It would remain 1-0 until the 81st minute, when Lacey Baric (Fort Lee, NJ) found the back of the net off a feed from Morrill.  It was her program-record 19th career assist.

In the 85th minute, Morrill increased the Privateers' advantage to 3-0.  After Sara Williams (Oceanside, NY)—who was also recognized in the pregame ceremony along with Morrill, Hannah Crown (Athens, NY), Stephanie DeMan (Millbrook, NY) and Madeline Powers (Atlantic Beach, NY)—had her shot blocked, the rebound found its way to Morrill's left foot.  She turned and fired from 30 yards out, sneaking it past Lindsay Dominguez for her second goal of the game.

Dominguez (1-11-0) finished with 30 saves, while two other Maritime shots were turned away on the goal line by the Bears' defense.  Estela Quintero (Oceanside, NY) (5-8-0) was credited with her fourth clean sheet of the year.

On Wednesday, the Privateers conclude the season by hosting Farmingdale (7-9-3, 6-2-2 Skyline) at 7 p.m.
