THROGGS NECK, NY – For the second straight time to begin the season, freshman forward Jake Devaney (Washingtonville, NY) of the Maritime College men's basketball team has been named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week.  He averaged 14.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the Privateers' home victories over Medgar Evers and Hunter.

Against Medgar Evers on Wednesday night, Devaney finished with 13 points and six boards to go along with two assists, three steals and two blocks.  He then scored the first six points of the game on Friday night against Hunter.  Devaney tallied 11 of his 15 points in the first half, and he added eight rebounds, two assists and a block in the victory.

After opening the season with three straight at home, the Privateers hit the road for their next three contests.  Maritime (3-0) begins the stretch with a 7 p.m. matchup at John Jay (3-1) on Wednesday.
