THROGGS NECK, NY – After averaging 18.3 points and 5.3 rebounds over the Maritime College men's basketball team's first three games of the season, senior guard
Ryan Donovan (North Salem, NY) has been named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. He also averaged 3.7 assists and 3.3 steals while leading the Privateers to their first 2-0 start this century.
Donovan had a career-high 32 points, including 21 in the first half, in the season-opening win over Medgar Evers last Tuesday. He added seven rebounds and three steals in the 81-56 triumph. Donovan followed up that performance with 14 points, six boards, five assists and three steals against York on Thursday, as the Privateers earned a 60-53 victory. He closed out the week with nine points and three rebounds at Mitchell on Saturday.
This is Donovan's second career (and second consecutive) Skyline Player of the Week nod. He was last season's final Skyline Player of the Week.
The Privateers, who opened the season with four games in seven days, return to action on Sunday with a 1 p.m. exhibition matchup at Columbia. Maritime's (2-2) next regular season contest is next Tuesday, Nov. 22, against NYU (2-0) at Riesenberg Gymnasium.
