GENESEO, N.Y. – The spring season for the Maritime women's rowing team began this past Saturday at the SUNY Invitational hosted by the Geneseo Knights on Conesus Lake.
The Privateers participated in the women's varsity four along the 1,100 meter course. Maritime finished in sixth place of six teams with a time of 5:48, just one second behind Nazareth, who took fifth with a time of 5:47. St. John Fisher won the race with a time of 4:47, while the University of Buffalo took second at 4:59. D'Youville and host Geneseo took third and fourth, respectively.

Kayla Kelly (South Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) along with freshmen
Kelly Guerrero (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. John the Baptist),
Erika Kirchner (Meadowmere Park, N.Y./Lawrence), and
Molly Hecker (Annapolis, Md.). Freshman Ben Ludwig coxed for the women's varsity four.
Maritime looks to get the full team back to action next weekend, when the team travels to nearby Fairfield, Connecticut to take part in the Sacred Heart Invitational on the Housatonic River.
