The Maritime College swimming and diving teams kept its strong 2018 campaign rolling with a dominant victory over Lehman College at home on Tuesday night. The Privateers earned a 155-56 win on the men's side to improve to 5-1 overall, while the women earned their second straight win with a score of 150-52.
Samantha Brow (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial),
Emma Haedrich (West Islip, NY/West Islip),
Katherine Green (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot), and
Bethany Champlin (Bronx, N.Y./Saint Vincent)Â teamed up for a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as they finished with a time of 2:13.01.
Erica Davis (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) and
Hannah Mesones (Spring Valley, NY/Ramapo) then followed it up with a first and second-place finish, respectively, in the 1000-yard freestyle to give the Privateers an early advantage.Â
The race of the day went to
Catherine Teige (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Our Lady of Good Counsel)Â who out-touched Lehman by .07 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle for a big first-place finish with a time of 29.52. Following the 50-yard freestyle,
Emily Zink (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport)Â continued her impressive senior campaign with a win in the 200-yard medley at 2:35.68.
Macy Blakeley (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) then took over on the diving board as she posted a solid 116.85 to add another nine points to Maritime's total.Â
In the 100-yard butterfly, Green and Haedrich touched the wall in first and second with times of 1:05.12, and 1:17.42, respectively, to add 14 more points to the lead. Brow,
Ashley Giorgio (Islip, N.Y./Islip), and
Megan Alicea (Copake, N.Y./Taconic Hills) then continued that momentum as they all finished top-three in the 100-yard freestyle. Two events later, the Privateers picked up all top-three finishes again, this time in the 500-yard freestyle. Senior
Katia Aaron (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) led the way with a 6:00.81 while
Anna Curran (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and
Caitlin Corrao (Flushing, NY/St. Francis Prep)Â followed it up to help pick up a full 16 points for the Privateers.
To close out the meet, Zink earned a win with a time of 1:22.49 in the 100-yard breaststroke and then she teamed up with Haedrich, Aaron, and Giorgio to earn a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:55.41.

On the men's side,
Caelan Troy (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park),
Nathanael Marino (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain),
Adam Durrua (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Beach), and
Daniel Walsh (Naugatuck, CT/Sacred Heart) got things started with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay and a time of 1:47.13. Maritime then backed it up by sweeping the top-three in the 1000-yard freestyle thanks to strong efforts by
John Moloney (Selkrik, NY/Bethlehem Central),
Christopher Ladd (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North), and
Matthew Crowley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Somers).Â
Troy kept the energy up for the Privateers as he finished first in the 50-yard freestyle, picking up a time of 23.86 to earn nine points for Maritime.
Nathanael Marino (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) and
Zach Woolley (Poughkeepsie, NY/Poughkeepsie) then added 13 more points as they finished first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard medley.
Joseph Montano (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley)Â then earned a score of 114.75 in the one-meter dive to add nine points to the Privateers total.

Alex Baros (Phoenix, AZ/Brophy College Preparatory),
Gabriel Menz (Vineland, NJ/Vineland), and Durrua swept the top-three in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 1:00.34, 1:01.08, and 1:01.26, respectively. Coming off a record-setting performance in the 1000 yard freestyle last week, Walsh added another win to his freshman campaign as he touched first in the 100-yard freestyle at 50.51. The 100-yard backstroke then saw another top-three sweep as
Nicholas Mastronikolas (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park)Â led the way with a time of 1:06.30.Â

Jesse Pierce (Broadway, Va./Broadway) and Derrick Henry finished first and second, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle to help the Privateers finish the meet strong. The night was capped off by another first and second finish, this time in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Seth Champlin (Throggs Neck, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac),
Spencer Blass (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), Marino, and Walsh, touched first at 1:34.24 while
Christopher Chilelli (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional),
Stephen Kelleher (Poughquag, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes),
Ian Folan (Bethel, Conn./Notre Dame), and Moloney were right behind them with a time of 1:37.99.
The Privateers are back in the Riesenberg Hall Aquatic Center on Friday, Dec. 7 at 6:00 p.m. as they take on Skyline foe Mount Saint Mary.
