THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College women's swimming & diving team welcomed Hunter to the Riesenberg Aquatics Center for its final home dual meet of the season on Wednesday night. In their last competition of 2025, the Privateers suffered a 132-52 loss against the Hawks.
Prior to the meet, Maritime honored its only senior—
Kirsten Argueta (Englewood, NJ). Argueta then swam on the Privateers' 200 yard freestyle relay squad that placed second in 2:20.79. She was joined on the relay by
Rebecca Kmiotek (Lindenhurst, NY),
Alexa Nolan (Queens, NY) and
Madalynn Carlson (Brooklyn, NY).
Maritime's top individual performer was
Oceana Elefante (Sayville, NY). She grabbed the Privateers' only first-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:21.31) and added a second-place showing in the 100 yard individual medley (1:12.82).
Kristen Carroll (New York, NY) came in just behind Elefante in the 100 IM, posting a time of 1:13.73. Carroll was also third in the 100 yard backstroke (1:18.17), while Kmiotek took third in the 200 yard freestyle (2:44.33).
There will now be a nearly two-month break for finals and the holidays before Maritime returns to action. The Privateers (both the men's and women's teams) tune up for the Skyline Conference Championships by visiting York on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
