ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Maritime dinghy sailing team competed at the Team Race Challenge this past weekend while sailing against a field of eight teams. After the conclusion of the two-day affair on the St. Mary's River, the Privateers finished the weekend in seventh position of eight teams as they raced on FJ sailboats. At the event, Maritime finished ahead of Christopher Newport University.
With great sailing conditions, St. Mary's College of Maryland led the field with a 16-1 overall record, finishing ahead of Old Dominion and Fordham, who rounded out the top three.

Juniors
Andreas Adam (Annapolis, Md./Severna Park) and
Zach Hill (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) along with sophomore
John Lawless (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) skippered the boats for the Privateers with junior
Timmy Montera (Bellmore, N.Y./Bellmore JFK)Â and freshmen
Macy Blakeley (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall),
Nolan Barker (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) and
Aidan Molesky (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) serving as the crew throughout the weekend.
In the initial round robin rotation, the Privateers finished 0-7 against the other seven teams competing at the event. In round two, Maritime put together a 3-4 record with wins that included a 1-3-4 finish against Christopher Newport, 2-3-4 score against Pennsylvania, and finished in the 2-3-4 positions against Virginia. In the same round, Maritime fell to Cornell, Fordham, Old Dominion and St. Mary's to finish the weekend with a 3-11 overall mark.

Maritime will look to regroup in two weeks, when the team travels to Annapolis, Md. to take part in the Navy Spring Open on April 15-16.
