THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime Dinghy Sailing team participated in a pair of events this weekend, as the Privateers traveled to Geneva, N.Y. for the North Fall Qualifier, while another part of the team took part in the St. Mary's Intersectional hosted in St. Mary's City, Md.
At the North Fall Qualifier, the Privateers finished in fifth position of 15 teams as part of a shortened one-day competition due to a lack of wind on Sunday. Meanwhile, in Maryland, the Privateers finished 15th of 18 squads at the regatta.
On Saturday at the North Fall Qualifier, teams raced aboard 420s as Maritime's Division A team recorded 27 points through six races, while the Division B team picked up 36 points. As a team, Maritime totaled 63 points, and were just four points away from fourth place.
Junior
John Lawless (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) skippered Maritime's Division A boat with freshman
Morgan Forde (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) serving as crew. The pair got Saturday off to a strong start with a pair of second place finishes, before tailing off later in the day. Out of their six races, the duo finished outside of the top five on just one occasion.
Division B featured senior
A.J. Libby (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) serving as skipper through the first four races, before junior
Andreas Adam (Annapolis, Md./Severna Park) took over for the final two races. Freshman
Macy Blakeley (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) was aboard as crew for the entirety of the day on Saturday. Libby and Blakeley finished in ninth in their first race before reaching fifth place in their second race. After Adam took over the team picked up another fifth place finish in their initial race together before finishing the day on a high note with a third place finish.
Host Hobart/William Smith won the event with 23 points, followed by Fordham with 28, Cornell rounded out the top three with 29 points. Queen's (Ontario, Canada) finished just ahead of Maritime with 59 points, as Maritime finished with 63.
Down at St. Mary's (Md.), the Privateers took part in the highly competitive St. Mary's Intersectional, featuring top teams from the entire east coast. On the weekend, Maritime finished with 348 points on the weekend with 153 coming from Division, and 195 coming from Division B.

Kyle Comerford (Annapolis, Md/Annapolis) who sailed the remainder of the weekend. Serving as crew was sophomore
Skye Miller (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown North).
The trio combined for 153 points, as Molesky and Miller tallied a 15th and 13th place finish before Comerford took over. Comerford and Miller had four top-ten finishes, which included a victory in their seventh race together, and ninth race overall. The pairing capped off their weekend with a 10th place run in the 14th race.
In Division B, sophomore
Juan Lejarraga (New York, N.Y./Montessori) and freshman
Reid McHenry (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands/Antilles School) paired up for the weekend and registered 195 points for the Privateers. The trio got off to a fast start with three top-ten finishes with a 6th, 10th, and 7th place finish but was unable to reach the top ten for the remainder of the weekend.
Picking up the win at the St. Mary's Intersectional was Dartmouth with 108 points, followed by Navy with 117, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology with 171 points. Boston College tallied 179, followed by Rhode Island with 180 to round out the top-five finishers at the event.
