THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime Offshore Sailing team competed in the American Yacht Club Fall Series the past two weekends at the Larchmont Yacht Club in Larchmont, N.Y., in addition to the two-weekend event.

At the American Yacht Club, the Privateers had three teams competing in different classes of boats. In the J105 Division, Maritime finished in 16th position of 17 boats. In the PHRF Second Division, the team was aboard a J92 and finished in seventh place of 10 boats, while in the PHRF First Division, Maritime finished in 11th place of 12 boats aboard the Frers "Crazy Horse".

In addition to the trio of boats at the Fall Series, Maritime had one entry at the Intrepid Trophy this past weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland. The Privateers ended the weekend in 5th place of seven teams aboard Colgate 26s.

In Larchmont in the J105 Division, Maritime came in 16th position with 118 points as the crew came in 12th position in their first and third races of the event before putting up a 14 score as well as 15th and 16th place finishes in the latter races. Junior
Riley Kernan (Manasquan, N.J./Wall) led the crew which was comprised of classmates
Caitlin Cummings (Shelter Island, N.Y./Ross),
Matt Dougherty (River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley) and sophomores
Taylor O'Brien (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and
Ryan Pentes (Steubenville, Ohio/Catholic Central).

On the J92 skippered by sophomore
Trace Dittenhofer (Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Township), the Privateers came in seventh position of 10 teams in their class. Maritime finished with five seventh place finish, but reached as high as third place in their in their fifth race of the event. Along with Dittenhoffer, the crew was made up of
Garrett Marques (Hudson, Mass./Hudson Catholic), along with junior
Kyle Morrissey (Glendale, N.Y./Martin Luther), sophomores
James Talay (East Atlantic Beach, Calif./Capistrano Valley),
Jeffery Ellington (Ft. Myers, Florida/Fort Myers),
Richard Leach (Hudson, N.Y./Croton Harmon), and freshman
Bailey Kerr (Charleston, S.C./Hanahan).

To wrap up the weekend was Maritime's largest team as senior
David Yonks (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai) led Maritime to an 11th place finish of 12 teams. The Privateers competed in just six of the scheduled 11 races and finished in 11th place during each race. Yonks' crew was made comprised of fellow seniors
Alex Haim (Youngstown, N.Y./Lewiston Porter) and
Andrew Pudelek (Illinois/Zion-Benton Township), juniors
Christian Perez (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) and
Jack Ryder (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), sophomores
Peter Mosconi (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) and
Gregory Ferguson (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches), and freshmen
Jonathan Greve (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) and
Wyatt Rahl (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield).

The offshore team will be back in action next weekend at the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta back at the Larchmont Yacht Club. Next week the Privateers will be racing on J105s and J44s.
