THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime Dinghy Sailing team took part in a pair of events this weekend, as the Privateers visited the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to take part in the Danmark Trophy, while also participating in the Kings Point Dinghy Open hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

The Privateers competed against top teams throughout the weekend at both competitions, as Maritime finished in 17th place of 19 teams at the Kings Point Dinghy Open, while finishing in 20th place at the Danmark Trophy.

Across the East River in Kings Point, the Privateers tallied a combined score of 432 points with 262 points in Division A and 170 points in Division B. Winds were constantly changing throughout the overcast weekend as 15 races were competed in both divisions on FJs and Z420s.

Through the first 12 races on Saturday, Maritime's Division A squad was skippered by sophomore
Maura King (Bayport, N.Y./St. John the Baptist), with freshman
Macy Blakeley (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) serving as crew. Together the pair had a two 17 place finishes, while recording nine 18th place finishes. Junior
Andrew Hall (Poquoson, Va./Poquoson) took over as skipper and posted a Division A-best 14th place finish on Sunday afternoon.

In Division B, senior
A.J. Libby (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) skippered for the entirety on Saturday alongside freshman
Nolan Barker (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe), the pair tallied a second place finish in their eighth race of the day, with s total of seven top-10 finishes overall in their races together. On Sunday, Libby was relieved by freshman
Matthew Daghir (Havre de Grace, Md./Aberdeen) as the rookie duo of Daghir and Barker had three 19th place finishes to close out action on Sunday.

Georgetown showed its muscle with a weekend-best 94 points throughout the 30 combined races as the Hoyas recorded just one finish outside of the top nine. St. Mary's (Md.) came in second, followed by Navy in a close third, Hampton and George Washington finished the in the top five.

At the Danmark Trophy, the Privateers registered 554 points, with 280 in Division A and 275 more in Division B. A total of 15 races were run in both divisions on Z420 boats with heavier winds on Saturday, before lightening up on Sunday.

Sophomore
Juan Lejarraga (New York, N.Y./Montessori) teamed up with freshman
Morgan Forde (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) and posted a weekend-best 13th place finish in their second to last race on Sunday afternoon in Division A.

Division B skipper
Aidan Molesky (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) skippered alongside fellow freshman
Reid McHenry (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands/Antilles School) as the duo recorded a pair of 14th place finishes highlighting their weekend together.

Yale dominated the weekend and recorded a first place finish by 50 points over second place Coast Guard. Roger Williams, Boston College and Navy rounded out the top five.
