THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2013) - The Maritime women's volleyball team hosted Skyline rival Purchase College and non-conference opponent Medgar Evers on Saturday at the Riesenberg Hall Gym. After dropping the first set to the Panthers, 3-0, the Privateers responded with a straight-set victory of their own over Medgar Evers for their second win of the season.
Â
The women's volleyball program celebrated Dig Pink Day on Saturday to help raise awareness and donations for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There was a table set up in the gym lobby to collect donation and to sell team merchandise and other pink-themed items with all the proceeds going to the Side-Out Foundation to help award grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.
Â
The Privateers raised about $850 total on the day, but they are still accepting donations throughout the rest of the month of October on their team page. The Maritime Dig Pink page can be found by

But we're not done collecting donations yet, so if you haven't already, please visit our team page to help contribute to a very worthy cause. I'm also very happy that the team responded so well to the great fan support and was able to pull out a victory in the final match of the day!"
