LEICESTER, Mass. (Oct. 17, 2009) – The day started off badly for the Maritime football team after its bus got a flat tire on campus, which forced players to cram into vans to make the nearly-three hour trip up to Becker, but the Privateers arrived on time to easily handle the Hawks, 68-6, on Saturday and earn its program-high fifth win of the season.
Â
"This win comes after a really good week of practice," said head coach Clayton Kendrick-Holmes. "We played really well and achieved our team goal for the week of coming out of this game in the plus-side in turnovers for the season. I am also really proud of the younger guys that came in and did an incredible job, including our backup offensive line."
Â
The victory moves the Privateers to 5-2 overall (2-1 ECFC) and into third place in the conference behind Norwich (4-0) and Mount Ida (3-1). Becker falls to 0-7 (0-3 ECFC) after the loss.
