RIVERDALE, N.Y. (Nov. 20, 2011) – The Maritime cross country team finished its 2011 season with the Skyline Conference Championship Meet on Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park. The men's squad finished in second place for the third year in a row behind three-time reigning champion St. Joseph's, while the women finished in third place, which is a program-best.

“These runners did great for us today,” said first-year head coach Bill Rueger. “Luke (Milano) has been fighting a cold all week and could've easily finished in the top five, but everybody else stepped up for us, on both the men's and women's side. I had an absolutely great time coaching such a fantastic group of student-athletes this season.”

Three Privateer harriers were named to the All-Skyline Second Team, as juniors Matthew Taraboletti (Titusville, Fla./Astronaut) (Titusville, Fla./Astronaut) and Luke Milano (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) finished in 13th and 14th place, respectively for the men and sophomore Jackie Bellisari (Albertson, N.Y./Holy Trinity) (Albertson, N.Y./Holy Trinity) came in 12th place in the women's race.

The Maritime men finished with 84 points on the day, which was 64 points behind St. Joseph's, who saw all of their scored runners finish from second through sixth place for 20 points. The men's individual champion was senior Sean Tiernan from Farmingdale State.

Tarabolleti led the Privateers in the men's 8K race with a time of 29:58.33, while Milano was just behind him finishing in 30:06.40. Freshman Dillon Otten (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ward) (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ward) came in 16th place with a time of 30:11.20, while juniors Pat Evans (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) (30:41.76/21st Place) and Gabriel Rosa (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) (31:01.71/22nd Place) rounded out the scoring for Maritime.

On the women's side, the Privateers finished with 105 points behind champion St. Joseph's (25 points) and second-place Mount Saint Mary (38 points). Maritime tied Purchase with 105 points, but because the Privateers' sixth finisher, Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) (Lewes, Del./West Broward) (24:43.06/35th place), finished higher than the Panthers', Maritime placed third.

Bellisari finished the 5K race in 22:08.76, while senior Emily Motz (Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este) (Amelia, Ohio/Glen Este) came in 18th place with a time of 22:42.68. Junior Lisa Wasson (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Sacred Heart) (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Sacred Heart) was next for Maritime in 28th place in 23:31.19, followed by freshman Saxon Londagin (Chewelah, Wash./Jenkins) (Chewelah, Wash./Jenkins) was the next runner to cross in 23:49.94. Senior Alexandra Carela (Paterson, N.J./Wayne) (Paterson, N.J./Wayne) rounded out the scoring for the Privateers, finishing in 31st place in 24:18.74
