RIVERDALE, NY – On Sunday, the Maritime College men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Queensborough Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. Behind
Cindy Chen's (Huntington Station, NY) 15
th-place finish, the Privateer women took 10
th in the team standings. The men's squad, meanwhile, grabbed 11
th place overall.
Chen completed the 5000-meter course in 23:36.02, which was good for 15
th place out of 159 competitors.
Nicole Mejia (Garden City, NY) ended up 33
rd in a time of 25:56.23, while
Emily Bryant (Hilliard, OH) took 53
rd in 27:28.47.
Eily Kochon (Ulster Park, NY) posted a time of 28:06.49 to grab 60
th place, and
Clio Liff finished 71
st in 28:50.35.
Maritime tallied 232 points on the women's side, ranking the Privateers 10
th out of 20 teams. In the men's team standings, Maritime was 11
th out of 20 with 342 total points.
Jack Queen (Mamaroneck, NY) led the Privateers with a 46
th-place showing. His 8000-meter time was 35:50.61.
Angus Queen (Mamaroneck, NY) crossed the line just after his brother in 48
th place (36:06.27).
Pietro Lorino (West Nyack, NY) placed 66
th in 38:40.53, and
Matthew Harkin (Massapequa, NY) was 74
th in 40:03.39.
Dylan Casales (Hicksville, NY) rounded out Maritime's scoring five with a 108
th-place effort (48:02.09).
After starting the season by competing on back-to-back weekends, the Privateers are now off until the NJIT Invitational on Oct. 11. The men's race gets underway at 11:15 a.m. followed by the women's event at 12 p.m.
