ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The Maritime College men's and women's cross country teams began the 2025 season on Saturday at Bard College's Fred Pavlich Invitational.
Cindy Chen (Huntington Station, NY) finished ninth on the women's side in her first collegiate race, while fellow newcomer
Angus Queen (Mamaroneck, NY) paced the Privateer men.
Chen began her college career by running 6000 meters in 27:25.2.
Emily Bryant (Hilliard, OH) grabbed 37
th place in 31:31.8, and
Nicole Mejia (Garden City, NY) was 37
th with a 31:51.8 clocking.
Eily Kochon (Ulster Park, NY), meanwhile, registered a time of 32:28.0, which was good for 46
th overall. Since Maritime only entered four women, the Privateers weren't eligible for a team score.
Maritime finished seventh in the men's team standings with 134 points, just two points behind sixth-place Sage.
Angus Queen completed the 8000-meter course in 33:26.6, which placed him 19
th overall.
Michael Abbamonte (Bohemia, NY) was 22
nd in a time of 34:03.3, while
Eric Schmidt's (Woodbury, MN) 34:50.4 clocking was good for 28
th place.
Jack Queen (Mamaroneck, NY) ended up 30
th in 35:12.6, and
Pietro Lorino (West Nyack, NY) rounded out the Privateers' scoring quintet with a 35
th-place showing (38:05.0).
On Sunday, September 28, Maritime will participate in the Queensborough Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. The first race is set to go off at 11 a.m.
