THROGGS NECK, NY – For the second straight time, a member of the Maritime College baseball tema has been selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.  Sophomore second baseman Owen Weber (Kings Park, NY) was recognized after tying the school records for home runs (3) and RBIs (7) in the first game of a doubleheader sweep against Manhattanville on Saturday.

Weber nearly had the home run cycle in the game.  He belted a leadoff homer in the first and a two-run blast in the third before hitting a grand slam in the fifth.  Weber crushed another long ball in Game 2 while adding a double.  Overall, he was 5-for-8 with four home runs, a double, seven runs scored and eight RBIs in the twinbill.  Weber then went a combined 4-for-10 in the doubleheader at Purchase on Sunday.  He also had an RBI triple in the loss at Eastern Connecticut on April 1. 

Over the five games, Weber posted a .455 batting average (10-for-22) and slugged 1.182.  He tallied four home runs, two doubles, a triple, nine runs scored and 10 RBIs on the week.

Now in its 14^th season, the D3baseball.com Team of the Week chooses the top performers across all of Division III baseball every week.  Weber is the third different Privateer to earn a Team of the Week nod this season.  David Granucci (Medford, NY) was chosen on March 12, and Harry Leipold (Thornwood, NJ) received the honor on April 2.

Maritime (13-10, 6-0 Skyline), which has won 13 of its last 17 games after an 0-6 start, currently sits atop the Skyline Conference standings.  The Privateers return to action on Sunday, when Mount St. Vincent (12-8, 3-5 Skyline) visits Reinhart Baseball Field for a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
