THROGGS NECK, NY – D3baseball.com has announced its All-Region Teams for the 2026 season, and three members of the Maritime College baseball team were selected. Freshman second baseman
Dylan Payano (Flushing, NY) was named to the All-Region First Team along with senior shortstop
Randy Ventura (Syosset, NY). Senior third baseman
Chris Picarella (Levittown, NY), meanwhile, earned a Third Team All-Region nod.
The Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-Skyline honoree, Payano tied for the league lead with 48 runs scored. He also paced the Privateers with a .415 batting average, which ranked eighth in the conference and was the second-best for a single-season in program history. Payano tallied a team-high 56 hits, including five home runs, and collected 46 RBIs, fourth-most in the Skyline. In addition, he was 15-for-16 on stolen base attempts and made just two errors in 123 defensive chances.
Ventura joined his double play partner on the All-Skyline First Team after setting a program record with 34 stolen bases. The only Maritime player to start all 37 games, he posted a .372 batting average and tallied 54 hits. Ventura scored 47 runs this season, finishing one behind Payano for the league lead. This is his first career All-Region selection.
Picarella also earned All-Region honors for the first time. He hit .386 this season with 12 doubles, second-most on the squad. Picarella added 35 RBIs, including five in one game at Yeshiva on May 1. A first-inning grand slam against Merchant Marine was one of four home runs he belted in 2026.
This marks the second time in three years that two Privateers were named First Team All-Region by D3baseball.com. Maritime has had at least one player selected to any of the three teams every season since 2022, with multiple honorees in four of those five years. Overall, 10 different players have received 12 total All-Region nods during that span.
