D3hoops.com All-Region 3 Team
THROGGS NECK, NY – After an outstanding freshman campaign in which he was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Skyline, forward
Jake Devaney (Washingtonville, NY) of the Maritime College men's basketball team added another honor on Tuesday when he was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team. As an All-Region selection, he's now eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America Team.
Devaney ranked among the Skyline leaders in four different statistical categories this season. He was sixth in the league in scoring (16.9 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (7.6 rpg), while finishing third in blocks (1.6 bpg) and fourth in field goal percentage (.463). Devaney's 42 blocks were the fourth-most for a single-season in program history.
He reached double figures in scoring 23 times in 27 games, and scored 20-plus points on 10 occasions. Devaney's career-high 34-point effort against St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Feb. 19 was the third-highest single-game scoring outpoint ever by a Maritime player. He also had 11 rebounds in that game for the Privateers' first 30-point double-double since 2010. Overall, Devaney notched four double-doubles on the season.
This is the 24
th year in which D3hoops.com has selected an All-Region Team in each of 10 different regions. Maritime is in Region 3, which consists entirely of schools located in the State of New York (mainly members of the Skyline, SUNYAC, Empire 8 and Liberty League).
