THROGGS NECK, NY – One day after being honored as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, freshman David Granucci (Medford, NY) of the Maritime College baseball team was selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on Wednesday.  He hit a combined .750 (6-for-8) with five runs scored and seven RBIs, as the Privateers went 3-0 in games against John Jay and Union.

Granucci belted the first two home runs of his collegiate career in the 17-5 victory over John Jay last Tuesday.  He crushed a two-run shot to right center in the second inning before smacking a grand slam to right in the fourth.  His six RBIs were the second-most for a single-game in program history.  Granucci capped the week by tallying three hits, driving in a run and scoring another in Game 2 of the doubleheader sweep against Union.

Now in its 14^th season, the D3baseball.com Team of the Week recognizes the top performers at each position across all of Division III baseball each week.  This week's selections were based on games played from March 3-9.

Maritime (3-6) returns to action on Sunday, when Baruch (1-8) visits Reinhart Baseball Field for a 12 p.m. doubleheader.  It will mark the end of a seven-game homestand for the Privateers.
