KINGS POINT, NY – On Saturday, the Maritime College men's and women's swimming & diving teams were in action at the USMMA Memorial Invitational from O'Hara Pool. The Privateers posted several strong finishes, highlighted by
Rowan Hayes (Floral Park, NY) taking second place in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Hayes recorded a time of 1:01.07 in the event. He added a fifth-place showing in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:19.80) and was on Maritime's 200 yard medley relay squad that took fifth in 1:52.22.
Victor Pineda (Bronx, NY),
Alex Anastasiades (Rockaway Beach, NY) and
Liam McManus (Islip, NY) joined Hayes in the relay. McManus later teamed with
Matt Klimek (Malverne, NY),
Aidan Hope (Milford, CT) and
Parker Endress (Hamburg, NY) to capture fifth place in the 400 yard freestyle relay (4:02.17).
Individually, Endress had a pair of seventh-place finishes. He had a 2:26.53 clocking in the 200 yard individual medley and swam the 400 yard individual medley in 5:14.03. Klimek was seventh in the 200 yard butterfly (2:30.65), and Hope grabbed ninth place in the 100 breaststroke (1:33.34).
Two Privateer women participated in the meet.
Lauren Barriteau (Laurelton, NY) contested three events. Her best result was 14
th place in the 200 breaststroke (3:05.72).
Aisling Donnelly (New City, NY), meanwhile, scored 120.15 points to place seventh in 1-meter diving.
There is one meet remaining on Maritime's 2024-25 schedule. The Privateers will take part in the Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers University from Feb. 14-16.
