THROGGS NECK, NY – Maritime College Director of Athletics
Jamel Ramsay has announced the hiring of
John Fimmano as head coach of the Privateers' men's and women's swimming & diving teams. In addition, he will serve as Maritime's Aquatics Director.
Fimmano joins the Privateers after one year as the Advanced Aquatics Team Leader at the Greater Philadelphia YMCA. He previously spent three seasons on the coaching staff at Arcadia University (2021-24), including a stint as the Knights' Interim Head Coach in 2023-24. That season, the Arcadia men's team posted a 6-2 record and finished fourth at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships. The women's squad, meanwhile, went 6-3 and also placed fourth at the MAC Championships. As Associate Head Coach in 2022-23, Fimmano helped the Knights to second (men) and fourth (women) at the MAC Championships.
"I am elated to join Maritime College Athletics and the swimming & diving program, and I'd like to thank Jamel Ramsay for this incredible opportunity," he said. "This program has a proud history and a ton of potential, and I am honored to be a part of it. I look forward to getting right to work."
A 2021 graduate of the University of Scranton, Fimmano holds numerous school records for the Royals. He earned First or Second Team All-Landmark Conference honors every season and was the 2019 Landmark champion in the 200 yard butterfly.
