Devaney Snags Skyline Player of the Week Honors

THROGGS NECK, NY – Sophomore forward Jake Devaney (Washingtonville, NY) of the Maritime College men's basketball team has been selected as the Skyline Conference Player of the Week.  He averaged 26.0 points while shooting 61.3 percent from the field in the Privateers' home games against Baruch and John Jay.

On Wednesday night against Baruch, Devaney tallied 28 points, the second-highest single-game total of his career.  He went 10-for-20 from the field in the game, including 3-for-7 from three-point range, and made all five of his free throw attempts.  Devaney added four rebounds and two steals in the 79-68 loss.  In the 85-74 win over John Jay on Saturday, meanwhile, he finished with 24 points on 9-for-11 shooting.  Devaney drained four treys against the Bloodhounds while also securing five boards and notching a pair of steals despite being limited to just 25 minutes because of foul trouble.

Thru three games this season, the 2024-25 Skyline Rookie of the Year is averaging 21.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest.  This is Devaney's first career Skyline Player of the Week selection after earning Rookie of the Week honors nine times last season en route to a First Team All-Skyline nod.

The Privateers (1-2) return to action on Thursday, when they visit Hunter (0-3) at 6 p.m.
