THROGGS NECK, NY – Add another award to the list of Freddy Forgione's (Ronkonkoma, NY) 2024 postseason honors.  The First Team All-American has been announced as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Year while also earning a place on the All-ECAC Team.  Alex Bardi (Wantagh, NY) and Anthony Madigan (Greenlawn, NY) were named to the All-ECAC Team, as well.

Forgione set a single-season school record with 21 home runs, which is tied for the second-most nationally.  His 62 RBIs (tied for 15^th in Division III) and 54 runs scored were also new program marks.  He also tied the single-game home run record and broke the single-game RBI record with three homers and seven RBIs at Lehman on April 24.  In addition, Forgione led the league with 15 doubles and an .885 slugging percentage while collecting 60 hits on the season.

He becomes the second player in program history to be recognized as Skyline Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year, ECAC Player of the Year and an All-American in the same season.  Brian McLaughlin achieved the feat in 2017.  Forgione is Maritime's first-ever First Team All-American.

Bardi also received All-America honors, being named to the Fifth Team by D3baseball.com.  He led the Privateers with a .400 batting average and belted 12 home runs, which ranked second in the conference behind Forgione.  Bardi was third in the league with 47 RBIs (trailing only Forgione and Madigan) while adding 12 doubles and 10 stolen bases.

Madigan's school-record 69 hits paced the Skyline Conference.  He also ended up second behind Forgione with 49 RBIs and 52 runs scored to go along with eight home runs, 13 doubles and 13 stolen bases.  Madigan posted a .390 batting average while hitting in the leadoff spot in all 39 games.

The ECAC is an 85-year-old organization that includes more than 200 member schools across Divisions I, II and III.  In addition to conducting championships and other competitions throughout the Northeast, the ECAC selects an All-ECAC Team in every sport it sponsors.  Student-athletes must be named first team all-conference or receive a major award in their primary conference to be eligible for ECAC honors.
