Results: Men | Women
BETHLEHEM, PA – After a one-year absence, the Maritime College men's and women's cross country teams returned to Lehigh University's Paul Short Run on Saturday. Participating in the Green Race, the Privateers finished 22
nd on the men's side. The Maritime women, meanwhile, placed 32
nd in the Green Race.
On the men's side, the Privateers were led by
Pietro Lorino (West Nyack, NY). He completed the 8000-meter course in 32:27.1, which was good for 114
th place.
C.J. Elwell (Charlestown, RI) was Maritime's second finisher. He took 122
nd in a time of 33:20.5.
Benjamin Spellman (Hampton Bays, NY) and
Joseph Ferrante (Massapequa, NY) were separated by only three seconds. Spellman finished 136
th in 35:52.7, while Ferrante ended up 137
th in 35:55.5.
Domenick Ribaudo (Medford, NY) rounded out the Privateers' scoring quintet. His time of 37:17.8 placed him 139
th overall.
Maritime posted a team score of 648 points, which placed the Privateers just behind 21
st-place John Jay (644). Grove City won the team title in the race consisting of mainly Division III programs.
In the women's race, the Privateers finished with a team score of 975 points. Sonoma State took first in the team standings.
Pacing the Maritime women was
Nicole Mejia (Garden City, NY), who secured 179
th place after running 6000 meters in 29:01.3.
Mary Cirelli (Oreland, PA) captured 195
th place with a 31:33.7 clocking, followed by
Caravel Losch (Butler, PA) in 32:09.4, which was good for 32:09.4.
Eily Kochon (Ulster Park, NY) grabbed 199
th place in 33:06.9, while
Natalie Boeri (Smithtown, NY) registered a time of 39:48.6 to finish 205
th.
The Privateers have one competition remaining before their championship events at the end of October. Maritime returns to Pennsylvania next Saturday for the Jack St. Clair Memorial Invitational, hosted by Thomas Jefferson University.
