THROGGS NECK, NY – For the second straight time, freshman Chase Miller (West Islip, NY) of the Maritime College men's cross country team has received a pair of Skyline Conference honors.  He was chosen as both the Skyline Runner and Rookie of the Week after taking first place overall at the Purchase College Invitational on Saturday.

In a field of 110 runners, Miller won by nearly 25 seconds over the second-place finisher.  His time on the 6000-meter short course was 19:34.4.  With Miller leading the way, the Privateers placed fourth out of 12 schools in the team standings (third among Division III programs).

After racing on back-to-back weekends to start the season, Maritime is now off until Sept. 26.  The Privateers will take part in the Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted by St. Joseph's LI at Stony Brook University.  The women's race gets underway at 11 a.m., followed by the men's race at 12 p.m.
