THROGGS NECK, NY – Three members of the Maritime College women's lacrosse team have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll.
Anya Josberger (Coxsackie, NY) earned a place on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive year, while
Avery Jillson Neuwirth (Croton-on-Hudson, NY) and
Kathryn Sandford (Floral Park, NY) were both honored for the first time.
Josberger, a marine transportation major, appeared in 15 games on defense in 2023 and collected 34 ground balls. Jillson Neuwirth, meanwhile, started all 17 contests and received a Second Team All-Skyline selection. The marine transportation major led the Privateers with 39 assists and ranked second on the team with 65 points. A marine environmental science major, Sandford scored a goal in the win over Albertus Magnus on March 20 and finished the season with 38 ground balls, fourth-most on the squad.
To be eligible for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. This year, 963 Division III student-athletes from 173 schools were recognized.
