THROGGS NECK, NY – After a strong start to the season at the Jasper Invitational on Saturday, the Maritime College cross country team has been recognized with both Skyline Conference Runner of the Week awards. Senior
Jack Lehnhardt (Dunkirk, MD) earned the honor on the men's side, while the women's award went to sophomore
Adelle Leger (Middletown, NY).
Lehnhardt posted a time of 27:57.6 over 8000 meters, which was good for third place among Division III runners. Overall, he finished 41
st. As a team, Maritime was seventh overall and first among Division III squads.
Leger, meanwhile, also had the third-best time among Division III athletes. She ran 6000 meters in 27:05.2 to place 50
th overall. The Privateers took sixth overall in the team standings and beat Kean, the only other full Division III squad in the women's race.
This is Lehnhardt's third career Skyline Conference weekly award, but his first Runner of the Week selection. He was named Rookie of the Week twice in 2019. Leger is the first Maritime woman to receive Skyline Conference weekly honors since
Rebecca Zareva earned a Rookie of the Week nod on Sept. 3, 2019.
Maritime returns to action on Saturday at the Penn State Abington Invitational. The first race gets underway at 9 a.m.
