THROGGS NECK, NY – Senior Rebecca Zareva (Allen, TX) of the Maritime College women's cross country team has been selected as the Skyline Conference Runner of the Week.  She recorded the seventh-fastest time in program history at the Rowan Interregional Border Battle on Saturday.

Zareva finished 138^th overall in a field of more than 300, running 6000 meters in 25:36.2.  It was the second consecutive meet in which she added her name to the all-time Top 10 list.  Her 25:17.8 clocking at the Paul Short Run on Sept. 30 was the fourth-best mark in program annals.  Zareva has posted three of the top 10 marks in program history, including two this season.

This is Zareva's first career Skyline Runner of the Week selection.  She becomes the second Privateer woman to win the award this season, joining Adelle Leger (Middletown, NY), who was recognized on Sept. 20.  Jack Lehnhardt (Dunkirk, MD) was also named Men's Skyline Runner of the Week on Sept. 20.

Maritime heads to the Skyline Conference Championships this weekend.  Both the men's and women's teams placed second at the Skyline Championships last year.  It was the women's squad's best-ever showing.
