Box Score Throggs Neck, NY - This evening, the Maritime Privateers picked up a hard-fought road victory over the Maine Maritime Mariners. The 2-1 victory came about on a second period rally in which the Privateers overcame a 1-0 deficit. The Privateers remain undefeated on the season as they improve to 4-0.

In a first period controlled by defense, the Privateers took advantage of shots by a 12-9 margin over the Mariners. After trailing for the first 44 minutes of the period and with seconds running down in the first period, the Privateers turned to familiar faces in sophomore Anthony Palazzolo (Huntington Station, N.Y. /Walt Whitman) and senior Parker Gallt (Las Vegas, Nev. / Plainfield South (Ill.)). With just 43 seconds remaining in the period, Palazzolo retrieved a rebound from a Gallt shot, to head in the game tying score. Palazzolo's goal was his fourth of the season. The period ending Gallt to Palazzolo connection served as a huge momentum booster for the Privateers going into the second period.

In the second period, the Maritime offense picked up from where they left of in the prior period. The Privateers combined for a total of 18 shots in the period which gave them a 18-2 shot differential over the Mariners. The 18 shots climaxed with the eventual game winning goal in the 61st minute. Sophomore Neil Dillon (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) gave the Privateers the 2-1 lead with a goal assisted by senior Joe Merendino (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling) and junior Anthony Sblendorio (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore). Dillon's goal is his 4th of the season and third in two games. Sblendorio has made his presence known this season as he was rewarded earlier this week as The Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Maritime's marvelous offensive performance to secure the victory included a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks and a 30-11 edge in shots taken.

Privateers junior goalie Michael Rodriguez (Wappingers Falls, N.Y. /Roy C. Ketcham) picked up his fourth victory of the 2018 season. Rodriguez saved a total of five goals which all came after his lone allowed goal in the first period.
