CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - This past weekend the Maritime rifle team took part in the 2018 MAC Rifle Championships hosted by the Massachusetts Insitute of Technology. The Privateer smallbore team took part in the Sharpshooter Division Championship against Plattsburgh, and picked up its second consecutive division championship. The air rifle team took part in the Expert Division Championship agianst host MIT, an fell by a 45-point margin.
The smallbore squad picked up the 2033-1993 victory over Plattsburgh, to earn their second win against the Cardinals this season. Senior

David Tindall (Bear, Del./Delaware Military Academy), sophomore
John Meakin (Salisbury, Md./Worcester Prep), and sophomore
Brandon Hyner (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon)Â all scored for the Privateers, while junior
Manny Ortiz (Ozone Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) also shot at the event.
The quintet of marksmen also competed in the air gun matchup against MIT, falling to the Beavers by a 2115-2160 score. Tindall led the way for Maritime, with Boomhower, Hyner and Meakin all factoring into the team score.
This is the seventh consecutive season with a championship in at least one or both guns?. Most of the team is returning next year and there are a few upcoming freshmen that have shown great progress and promise for next year as the team looks forward to another successful season in 2018-19.
