KINGS PARK, N.Y. – On Saturday, the Maritime men's and women's cross country teams were back on the course at Sunken Meadow State Park in Suffolk County on Long Island.
The Maritime men's cross country team finished 4th of 20 teams that scored at the event, while the women's team picked up a 13th place finish of the 18 teams competing.
The women's team was led once again by freshman
Bethany Champlin (), who registered a 22:42.8 on the 5K course. Champlin was followed by sophomore
Jean Colgan (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North), who crossed the finish line with a time of 23:45.4.
Sophomore
Katia Aaron (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) was next up for the Privateers with a season-best time of 26:28.8, and sophomore
Isabella Kent (Narrowsburg, N.Y./Sullivan West) with a time of 28:52.0. Freshman
Erin Teige (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Dominican Academy) rounded out the scoring for Maritime with a time of 29:26.6. Sophomore
Riley Huang (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) was the final Privateer across the line with a time of 32:27.7.
Freshman
Sean Hobson (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) led the way for the Privateers as he finished sixth individually with a time of 27:26.1 along the 8-kilometer course. For Hobson, it was a season-best time as he shaved nearly a minute off of his season-best, which was set in Maritime's last event at Mount St. Mary.
Senior
Joseph Pellegrino (Huntington, N.Y./Commack) also posted a career-best time of 28:39.8, which was 20 seconds faster than his time at the Skyline Championship Meet a season ago. Rookie
Kyle O'Brien (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) was third to score for the Privateers with a time of 29:23.0., followed by classmate
Derek Nielsen (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) with a time of 29:51.7, also a person best.
In the final scoring position for the Privateers was freshman
Bryan Tornatore (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeyoye Falls-Lima) with a time of 30:20.2, followed a half-second later by classmate
Marco Rosado (Lajas, Puerto Rico/Academia San Agustin y Espiritu Santo). Senior
Kevin Sun (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) posted a season-best time of 30:27.2 as he was next across the finish line for the Privateers.
Junior
Timmy Montera (Bellmore, N.Y./Bellmore JFK) posted a time of 31:00.1, followed by sophomore
Vincent Cotrone (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) with a 31:18.5, and sophomore
Christian Berglin (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) with a time of 31:27.4.
Jonathan Trencheny (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Holy Trinity) had a time of 32:13.8, with sophomore
Garrett Ernst (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) with a 32:46.9. Sophomore
Tom Mongeau (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) had a 34:03.2, and classmate
Andrew Torti (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy) had a 34:53.5, and
Tanner Russo (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) added a time of 38:34.5.
The Privateers will once again be off next weekend, and use that rest to prepare for the Skyline Conference Championship Meet on Sunday, October 30 at Broadway Ave. Park in Sayville, N.Y.
