Final ResultsFLUSHING, N.Y. – It was an historic night for the Maritime Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving programs as both teams capped off their 2015-16 regular season with notable milestones at the Fitzgerald Gymnasium Pool on the Queens College campus.

Rebecca Brow, the men's team secured a pair of victories over the host Queens Knights by the score of 59-53, while also knocking off the York (NY) Cardinals by a 99-8 margin to complete its regular season with an unblemished 10-0 record in head-to-head meets.
The women's team picked up its fifth head-to-head victory on the year, which eclipsed the all-time record for wins in a season from 2014-15, which was four. The squad knocked off the York Cardinals by the score of 70-15 to record the win. The team also dropped its head-to-head with the host Knights by a 66-36 margin.
On the evening, the overall team recorded nine victories in the 25 event meet that featured Division II Queens against Maritime and York. The men's team recorded five victories in 13 events, while the women's team picked up wins in four of the 12 events.
The women began the evening with the 200 Yard Medley Relay, which saw senior
Emma Crandall (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) join the freshmen trio of
Emily Zink (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport),
Erica Davis (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot), and
Ekaterina Aaron (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) to finish seven seconds better than their closest competition with a time of 2:15.70. No heat was held in the women's 1,000 Freestyle, as the women skipped ahead to the 200 Freestyle.
In the 200 Free, junior
Ashley O'Brien (Queens, N.Y./Mary Louis Academy) finished third (2:33.98) with sophomore
Abigail Granit (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) taking fifth place in the event with a time of 2:58.89. Freshman
Catherine Teige (Yonkers, N.Y./Our Lady of Good Counsel) secured second place in the 50 Freestyle, while classmate
Olga Anna Papaeconomou (Darien, Conn./Darien) took sixth place (30.71).
Zink followed with a second place finish in the 200 Individual Medley with a 2:32.70, while sophomore
Sarah Soulagnet (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Homeschooled) touched the wall in fourth position at 2:45.26. After the initial one-meter dive break, Zink was back in action and recorded another second place finish with a time of 1:10.39 in the 100 Butterfly. Davis posted a time of 1:26.70 to finish in fourth position.
Up next was Teige, who set a career mark and picked up the victory in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:04.74 as she won the event by more than three seconds. Granit came in sixth with a time of 1:22.65. Soulagnet got in the win column with a first place run in the 100 Backstroke, with an impressive time of 1:12.40, nearly 10 seconds better than Crandall, who finished in second with a 1:22.15.
The Privateer women's team secured its third-straight win as Aaron scored a 10-second victory in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 6:06.93; O'Brien touched the wall with a time of 7:06.59.The final individual event was the 100 Breaststroke, in which Crandall had a time of 1:27.21, followed by Papaeconomou close behind with a 1:28.94.
The evening concluded with O'Brien, Davis, Teige, and Aaron coming in second place in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a total time of 1:59.21.
The men's team got off to a quick start with three straight wins in their first three events of the evening, senior
Matt Cannon (Sparta, N.J./Sparta), with sophomore
Doug Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot), and freshmen
Nathanael Marino (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) and
Kevin Wu (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) posted a three-second win in the Medley Relay with a 1:47.79.
Junior
Robert Lewis (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) netted a victory in the 1,000 Freestyle with a time of 11:30.47, over a minute better than his closest competitor. Senior
Nicholas Brow (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) had a 12:52.40, just six seconds off from second place as he finished third.
Freshman
Preston Truong (Austin, Texas/Round Rock) made his presence felt as he picked up a nine-second win and was the only competitor in the 200 Freestyle to record a sub-two minute time with a 1:52.53. Freshman
Christopher Chilelli (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) finished third with a 2:02.26. Up next was Wu, with a second place finish in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 22.51, sophomore
Andrew Katz (Greenlawn, N.Y./Glenn-Elwood) came in fourth with a time of 24.36.
Marino got on the board with a win in the 200 Individual Medley, posting a time of 2:09.53, just four seconds ahead of senior teammate
Brendan Erskine (Maspeth, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), who was at the wall with a time of 2:13.71.
In the first round of one-meter diving, junior
Ryan Wood (Sparta, N.J./Blair Academy) collected a score of 116.45 as he came in second place.
As swimming action resumed, Truong was in the pool next with junior
Charles Schnebel (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) for the 100 Butterfly. Truong scored a third place finish with a 56.79, while Schnebel came in fourth with a 1:02.30.
Russell scored the fourth men's win of the night in the 100 Freestyle, as he picked up a time of 51.88, Katz was second for the Privateers as he came in fourth place less than two seconds later at 53.84. Cannon missed out on a win by just 0.13 seconds as he collected a time of 1:03.33 in the 100 Backstroke, freshman
Lillo Rubino (Islip Terrace, N.Y./Central Islip) was close behind in third place with a 1:04.19.
Lewis and Chilelli swam the 500 Freestyle, and finished in second and third place, respectively. Lewis swam a 5:40.30, while Chilelli picked up a time of 5:59.06 as Maritime continued to pick up key points to keep their chances alive against Queens.
Wood and freshman
Kurt Schieferstein (Lattingtown, N.Y./Chaminade) competed in the next series of one-meter diving events, with Wood picking up a score of 142.70 for second place, followed by Schieferstein with a 134.65 score for third position.
The final win of the night for the team came as Marino swam to a time of 1:04.80 in the 100 Breaststroke for Maritime's fifth event win of the night for the men's team. Erskine was next on the board with a time of 1:06.46 for second place.
In the final event of the night, the Privateers 'A' and 'B' Freestyle Relay teams came in second and third place respectively, just behind the 'A' Relay from Queens. Truong, Katz, Russell and Wu swam to a 1:32.48, exactly two seconds off the pace of the heat. Junior
Craig Lyon (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) teamed up with Lewis, freshman
Jesse Pierce (Broadway, Va./Broadway), and junior
Jonathan Murray (Long Beach, N.Y./Kellenberg) came in third place with a time of 1:40.56.
With one win, the women's team finishes the regular season with a 5-7 overall mark with a 3-4 record in Skyline Conference competition. The men's team cleared its final regular season hurdle with victories against both Queens and York (NY) to secure its unbeaten 10-0 overall record with a 5-0 mark in the Skyline.
The teams will reconvene at the Riesenberg Aquatic Center on the Maritime College Campus as the Privateers will host the 2016 Skyline Conference Swimming Championships. The two-day event will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29 with the first half of competition. The second day of action will commence at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30.
