Final Men's ResultsFinal Women's ResultsANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Maritime Men's & Women's Cross Country teams were back in action on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Bard College in Dutchess County.
The Privateer men's team took third place in a field of 15 teams, while the women's team tallied a ninth place finish out of 12 squads.
The men's group earned a third place finish with 125 points, and were the second Division III team to place on the afternoon. Leading the field for Maritime was senior
Cameron Coneys (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields), who came across the line with a time of 28:04, and was followed closely by freshman
Tom Mongeau (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) with a time of 28:21.
Next up was rookie
Christian Berglin (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) (29:20), who finished inside the top 25. Freshman
Garrett Ernst (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) was next with a time of 29:58, followed by classmate
Vincent Cotrone (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park), who came in 44th place with a time of 30:45 to wrap up the scoring positions for the Privateers.
Sophomore
Timmy Montera (Bellmore, N.Y./Bellmore JFK) finished just outside the top 50, as he came in with a time of 31:18, followed by junior
Kevin Sun (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) with a time of 31:48. Sophomore
Kyle Smyth (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) had a time of 32:23, while freshman
Tanner Russo (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) came across the finish line at 33:39.
Making their collegiate debuts were freshman
Kurt Schieferstein (Lattingtown, N.Y./Chaminade) (36:12) and
Matt Papania (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) (36:20), while juniors
Nick Musto (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) (41:29) and
Michael Schmid (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) (42:45) also got their 2015 seasons underway on Saturday.
The women's team featured six runners on the afternoon, with rookie
Emily Zink (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) leading the charge for the Privateers as she clocked in with a time of 21:57, good enough for 22nd place and 15th in points.
Freshman
Ekaterina Aaron () scored second for the Privateers as she picked up a time of 24:42, followed closely by sophomore
Andrea Mitchell (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Brush) at 25:10. Rookie
Jean Colgan (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) had a time of 26:59, followed by classmate
Riley Huang (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) at 30:23 to close out the scoring positions. Sophomore
Christina Finnen (Hicksville, N.Y./Holy Trinity) also raced with a time of 37:19.
Maritime will take next weekend off in preparation for the Mount St. Mary Knight Invite, which takes place at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y. The first race is slated to begin at 11:45 a.m.
