THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime Football team returns home to Reinhart Field on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when the team welcomes in Mount Ida for an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference matchup.

Maritime enters off a loss to the Husson Eagles a week ago by the score of 40-14 in Bangor, Maine. In the loss, junior
Brett McKinney (Westernville, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) collected a pair of touchdowns, while sophomore
Kendal Parker (Evans, Ga./Lakeside) had 15 tackles to lead the defensive unit.

Mount Ida comes into Saturday's contest with losses in its last two contests to Becker on October 24, and a loss to Norwich last week by a 33-7 score. Jack Sheehan caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Travis O'Brien. On defense, Sean Chinova led the team with a dozen tackles and also forced a fumble.

All-Time SeriesMaritime and Mount Ida have been one of the most evenly matched series since the inception of the ECFC. Maritime has won four of the first nine matchups against the Mustangs, with Mount Ida taking the 5-4 series lead with a win last season in Massachusetts.

In last year's meeting, Maritime fell by one point by a 7-6 score. In the game,
Diogo Dietrich (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/DePaul Catholic (N.J.)) converted on a pair of field goals from 39 and 46 yards for all the Maritime scoring.
Hugh O'Brien (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) and
Nick Coffiey (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) led Maritime's defensive efforts with 13 and 12 tackles, respectively.

Hero Appreciation DayWith Veteran's Day nearing, the Maritime football team will be honoring those who have served and currently serve our country in the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy, National Guard of the United States, New York Fire Department, New York Police Department, New York Port Authority, and many other servicemen and servicewomen. Each member of the football team submitted names that will be read over the public address system at halftime of the game.

In addition to the reading of the names, the Maritime Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be selling Hero Appreciation Day t-shirts for $10. The t-shirts will be sold on the blacktop area between the bleachers and baseball field.

WWII Hero on HandIn conjunction with Hero Appreciation Day, the Maritime community will welcome World War II Veteran Murray Pressman to the game. Mr. Pressman will be on the field prior to the contest for the ceremonial coin toss.

Mr. Pressman graduated from Maritime College in 1944 and later served with distinction in the Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine, before joining the United States Navy. Serving from 1944 through 1946, Mr. Pressman saw action in the Atlantic Theater of World War II and was an engineer on troop transports during the event most commonly known as "D-Day", the largest seaborne invasion in history.

Welcome Home, ChampsBetween the first and second quarters of the contest, the Maritime Football team will be recognizing the Five-Year Anniversary of the 2010 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Championship team. Members of the team will be recognized in a brief on-field ceremony recognizing the undefeated regular season team, which reached the NCAA Football Tournament.

For those players in attendance for the celebration, please line up near the Maritime entryway to Reinhart Field at approximately 2:10 p.m. The celebration will begin immediately following the close of the first quarter.

November ActionOver the last five seasons, Maritime is 5-5 in their regular season contests during the month of November. Over that span, the Privateers have only met Mount Ida once in November, and knocked off the Mustangs 16-7 on Reinhart Field during the 2013 campaign.
