Women’s Swimming Splits Friday Night Action with Sarah Lawrence, St. Joseph’s (LI)

Final Results

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Maritime Women's Swimming team took part in a three-way meet on Friday evening from the Danzi Athletic Center on Long Island. Maritime split its record on the night as the team fell to the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons by a 84-118 score, but won against the St. Joseph's (LI) Golden Eagles by a 100-92 score.
 
Maritime took third in the opening 200 Medley Relay as Kayla Nolan (Howard Beach, N.Y./Scholars' Academy), Emma Crandall (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield), Emily Zink (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and Sarah Soulagnet (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Homeschooled) recorded a time of 2:24.91. The second Privateer foursome of Catherine Teige (Yonkers, N.Y./Our Lady of Good Counsel), Abigail Granit (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township), Erica David and Jessica Yee (Freehold, N.J./Freehold) came in fourth during the event with an overall time of 2:29.89.
 
In the 1,000 Freestyle, Ashley O'Brien (Queens, N.Y./Mary Louis Academy) finished third with a 14:10.31 in the event. Granit also took part in the 1,000 and completed with a time of 16:11.11. Yee got the Privateers a second place finish in the 200 Freestyle as she touched the wall with a 2:15.82, just three seconds off the pace. Zink swam to a fifth place finish in the 200 with a 3:02.12.
 
The Privateers collected its second straight second place finish with Gabrielle Kempski (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) picking up a time of 28.82 in the 50 Freestyle. Alexandra Schnabel (Lindenhurst, N.Y./St. Anthony's) recorded a time of 30.59, followed by Katherine Reed () with a 36.45, and Teige with a 37.27.
 
Zink collected Maritime's first win of the night as Zink recorded a first place finish in the 200 Individual Medley as she posted a time of 2:35.90. Maritime made it two wins in a row as Ekaterina Aaron (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) scored a 1:08.63 in the 100 Butterfly as she picked up the win by just half of a second. Soulagnet also competed in the 100 Fly and clocked in with a time of 1:15.53.
 
In the 100 Freestyle, Nolan was Maritime's top finisher with a fourth place finish overall with a time of 1:19.99. Kempski (1:25.18) and Schnabel (1:28.59) also picked up times during the event. In the 100 Backstroke, Crandall led the Privateer pair that competed as she posted a time of 1:23.99, Teige was three seconds behind as she touched the wall at 1:26.55.
 
Aaron was edged out in the 500 Freestyle, as she earned a second place finish with a 6:03.43, which was 18 seconds off the leader. O'Brien also scored a 6:59.73 during the 500 Free. The final individual event saw Crandall lead the Privateers with a 1:28.89 in the 100 Breaststroke, Reed was six seconds behind Crandall with a time of 1:34.84.
 
The Privateers finished the night on a high-note as O'Brien, Soulagnet, Erica Davis (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) and Aaron picked up a nine-second win in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The B Relay for the Privateers saw Schnabel, Yee, Zink and Nolan record a time of 2:16.76 for a fourth place finish overall.
