Box Score Box Score KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2014) – The Maritime men's soccer team travelled to face arch-rival Kings Point on Wednesday night at the Mariners' Brooks Stadium. The Privateers lost by the score of 7-0 and fall to 1-3 overall on the season, while USMMA improves to 3-1-1.
The Mariners had control from the start, scoring just over two minutes into the game when junior Ryan Gardner found the back of the net on a header. Less than 10 minutes later, KP junior Dan Weldon scored his first of two straight goals. Maritime junior keeper
Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) was kept busy in the first half, spreading himself out to make eight saves and keep the score at a manageable 2-0 into the half.
Just over 10 minutes into the second half, Weldon scored his second goal of the game to increase the Mariners' lead to 3-0. Kings Point added four more goals in the final 21 minutes of the game, including two by freshman Brandon Jumaoas.
Weber ended the night with 12 saves. Junior
Renato Chira-Farfan (Miraflores, Peru/Mahopac (N.Y.)) registered two shots on goal for the Privateers, while classmate
Taylor McFadzen (Northport, N.Y./Northport) had one.
Maritime is back in action this Saturday afternoon, when the squad welcomes New Jersey City University for a 3:30 p.m. tilt at Reinhart Field.
